Pfizer Seeks FDA Approval for Shots for Children 5 to 11

28 million children could soon be eligible for vaccination.

On Thursday, Pfizer formally requested approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to children aged 5 to 11 years old. If approved it would be the first such vaccine available for children. About 28 million children in the United States would be eligible for the vaccine if it is approved by the FDA.

According to research conducted by Pfizer last month, children would only need to take one-third of an adult dose of their vaccine. Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said that a meeting was scheduled for the end of this month to “conduct a comprehensive evaluation of clinical trial data submitted in support of the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine used in a younger pediatric population.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For officials of the FDA as they seek to determine if the COVID-19 vaccine is effective for use for children.
  • That Acting Commissioner Woodcock would seek God’s wisdom as she leads the FDA.
